Data confidentiality

The Viadeo site respects your right to privacy and was the object of a declaration registered with the French authorities for the protection of personal data (Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés - National Commission for Information Technology and Civil Liberties - CNIL) under number 1027447.

The data liable to be collected on Viadeo is exclusively intended to help you enhance your professional network.

We use the information you provide for our various services. All precautions have been taken to store your data in a secure environment. None of the information you enter and that relates to you will ever be communicated to a third party, neither sold nor exchanged.

You may change or delete at any time all of your information by directly accessing www.viadeo.com.

Due to the very nature of a website, some non-personal data may be collected such as the version of your browser (Netscape, Internet Explorer, etc...), your operating system (Windows, Mac, Linux, etc...) and your IP address.

Your profile information is accessible on Viadeo. You therefore expressly authorize Viadeo to reproduce and distribute the data relating to you throughout all or part of Viadeo or via email. Registering with Viadeo

You guarantee that the data you share with us is accurate and true. You agree to provide a real email address, of which you are the actual owner. You waive any claim and/or legal action against Viadeo should you not receive service messages from Viadeo.

Once registered, you will be given one or several personal and confidential login(s) and password(s). The latter must not be communicated to or shared with third parties. In no case will Viadeo be held responsible for the loss of your usernames and/or passwords.

In the event that you use these elements in a manner contrary to their purpose, Viadeo reserves the right to terminate your account without prior notice. You will be solely liable for the use of these elements of authentication by third parties or for actions or statements made through your account, whether fraudulent or not. You guarantee Viadeo against any request to this effect.

Moreover, because Viadeo does not have the means to check the identity of people registering for its services, Viadeo will not be held responsible in the event of identity theft. If you think that someone is using your account or your identity, you must inform us immediately by post at the aforementioned address.

When a member wishing to sponsor a friend provides Viadeo with their address, he warrants having received this friend's prior consent authorizing their data to be processed by Viadeo. Moreover, the sponsor is exclusively responsible towards Viadeo for this person and any third parties and for the consequences of providing their contact information to Viadeo.

Viadeo reserves the right to deactivate the accounts of members who have not connected to the service for a period of 6 (six) months or more.

Use of Viadeo

Once registered, you will have access to Viadeo services. When using Viadeo, you specifically agree to respect the following rules:

In case of infringement by a member of one or more of these rules, Viadeo reserves the right to block the account(s) of the members in question, to automatically delete litigious messages, to prevent the posting of all or part of a member's profile, and/or to block their access to all or part of the services, on a temporary or permanent basis, without any compensation.

Viadeo cannot be held liable for false statements made by a member. Viadeo disclaims all responsibility related to any meetings between Viadeo members, on Viadeo or during meetings between members and/or non members, following the use of its site and services.

Intellectual property

Viadeo and all of its contents, including texts, fixed or animated images, databases, programs...are protected by copyrights.

Authorization for reproduction is granted to you only in digital format, on your computer, for the purpose of viewing the pages you accessed with your browser software.

Hardcopy printing is authorized for the purpose of private copying for the exclusive use of the copier pursuant to article L. 122-5 2° of the Intellectual Property Code.

All other use not specifically cited by the present document, or authorized by contract with Viadeo, is unauthorized and requires the express prior written agreement of Viadeo.

The trademarks, logos, graphics, photographs, animations, videos and texts included on www.viadeo.com are the intellectual property of Viadeo and may not be reproduced, used or represented by third parties without the express authorization of Viadeo or they will be prosecuted.

Usage rights granted by Viadeo are strictly limited to the access, downloading, printing, reproduction on any and all media (hard disk, diskette, CD-ROM, etc.) and the use of these documents for private and personal use. Any other use is prohibited without Viadeo's prior consent.

You are specifically prohibited from modifying, copying, reproducing, downloading, distributing, transmitting, commercially exploiting and/or distributing in any manner whatsoever the services, pages from the www.viadeo.com website or the computer codes of the items making up the services and the www.viadeo.com site.

Viadeo is licensed to use the intellectual property rights associated with the content provided by members for the purpose of communication on the www.viadeo.com site. This license specifically grants Viadeo the right to reproduce, represent, adapt, translate, digitize, use for advertising, commercial or non commercial purposes, to sub-license or surrender any of your content (information, description, etc.).

You expressly authorize Viadeo to modify the aforementionned content to respect the graphic charter of the www.viadeo.com site or other communications media cited above and/or make it compatible with its technical perfomance requirements or the formats of related media.

Terminating your account

Every member can terminate their Viadeo subscription to www.viadeo.com at any time and without cause simply by sending us letter to the following address:

In the event of a breach on your part of the present terms of use, Viadeo reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account without prior notification or compensation.

You will be informed by electronic mail of the termination of your account. All your data will be deleted at your request or upon expiration of a 6-month period following the termination of your account.

Liability

The information provided by a member must be accurate and true. The consequences of its disclosure on your life and/or on that of other members are your exclusive responsibility. You waive the right to any legal action against Viadeo/Viadeo, and specifically on the basis of potential damage to your right of personal portrayal, to your honor, to the intimacy of your private life, resulting from the ditribution or disclosure of any of your information.

Viadeo cannot be held liable for the accuracy or inaccuracy of information and content provided by other members, visitors to the site and/or yourself. Likewise, Viadeo cannot be held liable for content distributed by a member that may infringe the rights of one or several other members.

In the event that the liability of Viadeo is evoked due to failure by a member to meet their obligations under the terms of the law or under the current terms of use, the aformentionned member promises not to hold Viadeo responsible for any judgment against their, this guarantee covering both fines that might be paid as well as attorney's fees and legal costs the member may have to pay.

Viadeo's operation

You must possess the skills, hardware and software required for Internet use and acknowledge that the features and limitations of the Internet do not make it possible to guarantee the security, availability and integrity of Internet data transmissions.

Viadeo does not guarantee that the services will function without any interruption or error. Specifically, they may be momentarily interrupted for reasons of maintenance, update or technical improvement, or for the upgrade of their content and/or presentation.

Where possible, Viadeo shall inform its members ahead of time of any maintenance or update operation. You waive the right to hold Viadeo responsible for the operation and exploitation of the www.viadeo.com site.

Likewise, Viadeo will not be held liable in the event of failure, access denial, or poor conditions of use of the Viadeo site due to inadequate equipment, to interruptions attributable to the member's access provider, to Internet network congestion, and/or any other reason out of Viadeo's control.

Viadeo shall not in any case be responsible for indirect damages incurred, and specifically for the loss of data (including copies) or recordings that you might have performed.

Viadeo modifications

Viadeo reserves the right to modify or to upgrade at any time the pages located on the www.viadeo.com site, its services, their price or their applicable terms of use.

These modifications shall become effective as soon as they are put online on the www.viadeo.com site and will not constitute a cause for termination by a member of their Viadeo subscription.

Failing that, you shall be deemed to have accepted these modifications by continuing to use the www.viadeo.com site. Members are therefore invited to view the most recent online version on the site. A member's presence on the site implies their full acceptance of any revision or modification of the www.viadeo.com site.
